Joomlatools unveils multi-lingual solution for Joomla!
Leading open source content management system gears up for multi-lingual use.
Diest, Belgium, 17 April, 2008 - Nooku, an open source GPL licenced extension that enables multi-lingual capability of Joomla! 1.5, provides more power and flexibility for publishers wanting to reach more than one language.
The world's most popular CMS, Joomla!, now combines with the world's most powerful localisation tool, Nooku. Created by the Joomlatools team, Nooku sets the highest standard yet seen in a Joomla 1.5 extension. In fact, Nooku is much more than an extension ... it is a framework in itself.
Nooku lead architect Johan Janssens said Nooku empowers Joomla! publishers and effectively provides an enterprise benchmark. "Nooku will transform the open source multi-lingual market," he said. "Our partners are at the core of our strategy to create leading localisation / CMS solutions."
Partners of the Nooku project include the United Nations, Belgium Local Police, leading web solutions providers and a language translation company. "We sought funders from the beginning, as we knew we would have to work on Nooku for many months," Johan said. This enabled the Joomlatools crew to focus on rapid development without the usual financial constraints that can hamper open source development.
Initially, Nooku will only be available to funding partners. "Partners will always get the first bite at our major releases," Johan said. "Once we've got the software to a mature level we will be releasing Nooku publicaly," he said.
Joomlatools prefers an agile development methodology; which combined with enormous creativity of the team has delivered a KILLER application. There will be many more to follow.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the funders for being so supportive of our project," Johan added. "Without their vision and support we would not be where we are today ... and where we are at this moment is on the verge of a Joomla! 1.5 framework technology explosion. We at Joomlatools are extremely excited and we believe the community will be encouraged by this as it's the tip of the iceberg of what's to come."
